Let f (x) = x^2 + 4x and g (x) = |1 - x|. Evaluate (f o g) (2)

    if

    f (x) = 2x

    g (x) = 3x

    then (f o g) (x) = f (g (x)) = f (x) = 2 (3x)

    so f o g (2) means in this equation

    subsitute 2 for x

    (f o g) (2) = f (g (2)) = (|1-2|) ^2+4 (|1-2|)

    the x in the f (x) is g (x) so first evaluate g (2)

    so

    g (2) = |1-2|=|-1|=1

    g (2) = 1

    then

    f (1) = 1^2+4 (1) = 1+4=5

    the answer is 5
