Y = 2x - 9
x + 3y = 8
x + 3 (2x - 9) = 8
x + 3 (2x) - 3 (9) = 8
x + 6x - 27 = 8
7x - 27 = 8
+ 27 + 27
7x = 35
7 7
x = 5
y = 2x - 9
y = 2 (5) - 9
y = 10 - 9
y = 1
(x, y) = (5, 1)
