The length of the shadow of a building is 120 meters, as shown below: The shadow of a building is 120 meters long. The acute angle that the shadow makes with the line joining the tip of the building to the end of the shadow measures 60 degrees. What is the height of the building?

    in a triangle with 2 45 degree angles and a 90 degree angle, the opposite and the adjacent sides are always equal, making the answer 120m

    Think of a rectangle triangle & X being the vertical side (or the height of te building) opposed to the angle of 60:

    Hence tan 60 = X/120 & we know that tan (60) = √3

    √3 = X/120 or X = 120.√3 = 207.85 m
