    4b+8=36

    Subtract 8 from both sides

    4b=28

    Divide by 4 on both sides to get b by itself

    b=7

    7 apples were in each bag

    36 - 8 = 28

    Lizzy bought a total of 18 apples from the store.

    28/4=7

    There are 7 apples in each bag.
