    Answer: D 2x - y = 7

    2x + 7y = 31

    Solution:

solve for each case and see both the equations have LHS = RHS using the coordinates (5,3)

    d. 2x - y = 7

    2x + 7y = 31

    2 (5) - 3 = 7 >>> 10-3 = 7 >>> 7 = 7

    2 (5) + 7 (3) = 31 >>> 10+21 = 31 >>> 31 = 31

For the other options use (5,3)

    a. 3x - 2y = 9

    3x + 2y = 14

    15-6 = 9 >> 9=9

    15+6 = 14 incorrect

    b. x - y = - 2

    4x - 3y = 11

    5-3 = - 2 >> 2 = - 2

    Incorrect

    c. - 2x - y = - 13

    x + 2y = - 11

    -10-3 = - 13 >>> - 13 = - 13

    5+6 = - 11 >>> 11 = - 11 incorrect
