Two friends, Alejandra and Mia, agreed to split the check at a restaurant. Alejandra ordered $12 worth of food and Mia ordered $18 worth. At the end of the meal, Alejandra put her $12 contribution on the table, plus a 20% tip and Mia put her $18 contribution on the table, plus a 15% tip. The total check is $30.

    Alejandra's tip is 20% of 12 which is $2.40

    Mia's tip is 15% of 18 which is $1.80

    1.8 + 2.4 = $4.20

    4.20/30 = 0.14

    0.14 x 100 = 14%

    r = 14
