Chantal paid $4200 per year in property tax. She sold her house with a possesion date of october 1. The new owners had to pay her for the last 3 months of the year. How much did they owe her in property tax for the three month period?

    Three months is 1/4 of a year.

    1/4 * 4200 = 1050 dollars. It would be easier to see perhaps if you changed it to a decimal.

    0.25 * 4200 = 25*42 = 1050
