To add fractions together multiply each fraction by the denominator of the other

    like this:

    (1/3) * (4/4) + (3/4) * (3/3) =

    (1*4) / (3*4) + (3*3) / (4*3) =

    4/12 + 9/12 = 13/12 or 1 + 1/12
