    Ok so to solve this problem by substitution method we first need to find are chunk, in this case are chunk is already found for us and it is y = (5x-9) so now we input this into are other equation like so,

    -x-5 (5x-9) = - 7

    Distribute

    -x-25x+45=-7

    Add (subtract) like terms

    -26x+45=-7

    Subtract 45 from each side

    -26x=-52

    Divide each side by - 26

    x=2

    So now we can solve for y by imputing x into are y=chunk equation like so

    y = ((5*2) - 9)

    Solve by solving for the parentheses first

    y = (10-9)

    Solve once more for the parentheses

    y=1

    So are end answer is x=2 and y=1

    Enjoy!=)
