    The correct value of the length of a side = 2¼ ft

    Answer:

    area of the whole mosaic = 182.25 ft²

    Step-by-step explanation:

    We are told it has a 6 x 6 array of different colour square tiles.

    Which means it has 6 x 6 = 36 square tiles.

    Area of square = L²

    Where L is length of side

    Now, since length of one tile is 2¼ ft long.

    Thus, area of one square tile = (2¼) ²

    = 81/16 ft²

    Since there are 36 tiles,

    Thus;

    Total area; 81/16 x 36 = 182.25 ft²
