    Remember, you can do anything to an equation as long as you do it to both sides

    0.6x-10=1.4x - (-14)

    and minusing a negative means adding

    0.6x-10=1.4x+14

    minus 0.6x from both sides

    0.6x-0.6x-10=1.4x-0.6x+14

    0-10=0.8x+14

    -10=0.8x+14

    minus 14 both sides

    -14-10=0.8x+14-14

    -24=0.8x+0

    -24=0.8x

    multily both sides by 10

    -240=8x

    divide both sides by 8

    -240/8 = (8x/8)

    -30 = (8/8) x

    -30=1x

    -30=x

    x=-30
