Meryl spends a total if $68.82 for 2 pairs of sneakers with the same cost. the sales tax is $5.32. Meryl also uses a coupon for $3.00 off her purchase. how much does each pair of sneakers cost?

    In order to solve this you set up an equation.

    Let x equal the price of each pair of shoe.

    68.82 = 5.32x - 3.00

    Now solve for x.

    5.32x = 71.82

    x = 13.5

    Each pair of sneakers costs $13.50
