In an alloy of copper and tin, there is 85% of copper. How much of this alloy do you need in order to get 1 13/32 lb of tin?

    The solution for this question to determine how much of this alloy do you need in order to get 1 13/32 lb of tin. If the alloy is 85% copper, then it is 15% tin. So:

    15n/100 = 45/32

    4500 = 480n

    n = 9.375 lbs. of the alloy to get 1.40625 lbs of tin.
