    P = 2 (L + W)

    P = 36

    W = 2L

    36 = 2 (L + 2L)

    36 = 2 (3L)

    36 = 6L

    36/6 = L

    6 = L < = = length is 6 inches

    W = 2L

    W = 2 (6)

    W = 12 < = = = width is 12 inches
