A box contains 60 colored balls: 45 of the balls are purple, and 30 of the purple balls have stars on them. if a purple ball being randomly chosen and a ball with stars being randomly chosen are independent events, how many of the 60 colored balls have stars on them? use conditional probability to justify your answer.

    You are given a box that contains 60 colored balls: 25 of the balls are purple, and 35 of the purple balls have stars on them. The condition is that if a purple ball being randomly chosen and a ball with stars being randomly chosen are independent events, how many of the 60 colored balls have stars on them.

    there are 60 colored balls

    25 of the balls are purple

    35 of the balls have stars on them

    P (that the chosen balls are random and that the second ball has a star) = (35/60) (25/60) (59/60) = 413/1728 = 0.239
