    The doctor's cost for a set of scrubs is $47.60

    Given:

    cost = $34

    mark-up = 40%

    Mark up based on cost:

    $34 * 40%/100% = $13.60 mark up

    New price or doctor's cost:

    $34 + 13.60 = $47.60

    It can also be computed this way.

    $34 * 140%/100% = $47.60
