    Hello there!

    -4 (y - 2) = - 8

    Use the distributive property

    (-4) (y) + (-4) (-2) = - 8

    -4y + 8 = - 8

    Then, subtract 8 from both sides

    -4y + 8 - 8 = - 8 - 8

    -4y = - 16

    Divide both sides by - 4

    -4y/-4 = - 16/-4

    y = 4

    Best of luck!
