    The first thing we must do for this case is to define variables.

    We have then:

    x: price of soda

    y: price of hot dogs.

    We write the system of equations:

    4x + 2y = 7.50

    2x + 4y = 6

    Whose solution is:

    x = 1.5 $

    y = 0.75 $

    Then, for 8 sodas and 10 hot dogs we have:

    8x + 10y

    Substituting values:

    8 * (1.5) + 10 * (0.75) = 19.5 $

    Answer:

    the amount of money that Gail spent on the 8 sodas and 10 hot dogs is:

    $ 19.5
