recipe is 3 1/2 cups. Using what you know of whole numbers and what you know of fractions, explain how you could triple that mixed number.

    Convert 3 (1/2) into a mixed fraction first and then multiply it by 3:

    3 (1/2) * 3

    (7/2) * 3

    21/2

    10 (1/2) = answer
