Yochanan walked from home to the bus stop at an average speed of 55 / text{km/h}km/h. He immediately got on his school bus and traveled at an average speed of 6060 / text{km/h}km/h until he got to school. The total distance from his home to school is 3535 kilometers, and the entire trip took 1.51.5 hours. Distance Walked = 5km

    Distance on bus = 30 km

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let the time spent walking=x

    Let the time on the school bus=y

    Time Spent on the entire trip=1.5 hours

    Therefore:

    x+y=1.5 ... (1)

    Now Distance=Average Speed X Time

    Average Walking Speed = 5km/hr

    Distance Walked=Average Walking Speed X Time Taken

    Distance Walked = 5x

    Average Bus Speed = 60km/hr

    Distance on Bus=Average Bus Speed X Time Taken

    Distance On bus = 60y

    Total Distance = 35 km

    Therefore:

    5x+60y=35 ... (2)

    We solve Equations 1 and 2 to get the values of x and y.

    x+y=1.5

    5x+60y=35

    From (1), x=1.5-y

    5 (1.5-y) + 60y=35

    7.5-5y+60y=35

    55y=35-7.5

    55y=27.5

    y=0.5 hour

    x=1.5-y = 1.5-0.5=1 hour

    Distance Covered Walking = 5x = 5 X 1 = 5km

    Distance on bus = 60X0.5 = 30 km
