    Matha - Jim = 200 feet.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Jim's distance

    J = sqrt (w^2 + L^2)

    w = 300 L = 400

    J = sqrt (300^2 + 400^2)

    J = sqrt (900 + 1600)

    J = sqrt (2500)

    J = 500

    Martha's distance

    M = 300 + 400

    M = 700 Feet

    Answer

    M - J = 700 - 500 = 200

    Jim walks 200 feet less than Martha.
