    Let L be length and W be width.

    L = 2W

    And our perimeter is 2L + 2W. Substitute L to get:

    2 * (2W) + 2W = 24

    4W + 2W = 24

    6W = 24

    W = 4

    That means L equals 8.

    So our area of the rectangle is L*W or 8*4 = 32 units squared
