    Length = (1/12) mile

    Width = (3/8) mile

    Perimeter = 2 * Length + 2*Width

    Perimeter = 2/12 + 6/8 =

    4/24 + 18/24 =

    20/24 miles = 5/6 miles Perimeter

    area = Length * Width = (1/12) * (3/8) = (3/96) square miles

    (3 / 96) square miles is an awkward way to express area so let's try:

    (1/12) miles = 440 feet

    (3/8) miles = 1,980 feet

    Area = 440 * 1,980 = 871,200 square feet which equals 0.03125 square miles
