    2 consecutive integers ... x and x + 1

    x + x + 1 = 3x - 1

    2x + 1 = 3x - 1

    1 + 1 = 3x - 2x

    2 = x

    x + 1 = 3

    ur integers are 2 and 3

    Call fhe first x

    The second must be x+1

    The sum of x and x+1 is 2x+1

    Three times the first number is 3x

    One less than that is 3x-1

    2x+1=3x-1

    1=3x-2x-1

    2=3x-2x

    2=x

    The smaller number is 2, the larger number is 2+1 which is 3
