How would you do 0 (x-2) ? I know numbers multiplied by 0 is just 0, but what happens to the variable when it is being multiplied by 0

    0 (x-2) = 0

    or "distribute": 0 (x-2) = 0x - 2 (0) = 0 - 0 = 0

    The variable is just some stand-in for an unknown number.

    Multiplying a number by 0 always results in 0.

    So no matter what number the variable can be, the variable will end up being zero when you multiply it by 0.
