A rectangular prism is like an ordinary box> a solid figure with two parallel rectangular bases and four lateral faces, perpendicular to the bases and parallel two to two. Imagine a piece of chees with the shape of a box, if you cut the cheese parallel to the base, you will see a rectangle, which is the resulting cross section.
