Titanium-44 is a radioactive isotope such that every 63 years, its mass decreases by half. For a sample of titanium-44 with an initial mass of 100 grams, write a function that will give the mass of the sample remaining after any amount of time. Define all variables. What is the mass of the sample after 40 years

    Function = T=K/M

    Mass of Sample after 40 yrs = 31.746032 grams

    Step-by-step explanation:

    As time increases, the mass decreases, hence it's inverse proportion

    T ∝ 1/M

    Function = T = K/M

    Using direct proportion to evaluate mass after 40 yrs

    when T = 63yrs, Mass = 0.5M

    When T = 40 yrs Mass = X

    X = 0.3174603M

    Hence mass after 40 years = 0.3174603 (100) = 31.746032 grams
