The area of a rectangular shape is found my multiplying the base x height. Since squares have the same measure all the way around the base must be equal to height so b x h for a square is equal to (b x b) = b^2 or (h x h) ^2 they are the same to using b for base we have b^2=196 so sqrt (196) = each side is 14sqft. To find the perimeter we just add all the sides to get (14+14+14+14) or (14*4) = 56sqft.
