First you subtract - X from 3x to get 2x + 3 = 23
then you subtract 3 from both sides to get 2x = 20
then finally, you divide both sides by two to get x = 10
And if you plug 10 back in you get - 10 + 3 + 30 = 23
-10 + 3 = - 7
-7 + 30=23
23=23
