    24 700 000

    Step-by-step explanation:

    this makes use of the compound interest formula:

    A = P * (1 + R / 100) ^n

    A is the amount invested

    P is the principle

    R is the rate on interest

    n is the number of years

    NOTE : you can notice that its compound interest because it says that in a given year is 610 000 transistors ... how many transistors could fit on a microchip 11 years later?

    showing that the rate of increase in transistors is not constant.!

    A = 610 000 * (1 + 40 / 100) ^ 11

    A = 24 702 347.53

    to 3sf is:

    24 700 000
