    Simplify both sides of the equation.

    3 (-3x+9) = - 18

    (3) (-3x) + (3) (9) = - 18 (Distribute)

    -9x+27=-18

    Subtract 27 from both sides.

    -9x+27-27=-18-27

    -9x=-45

    Divide both sides by - 9.

    -9x/-9=-45/-9

    x=5

    It could be made more easy if you take the negetive out ... so that it can be written as

    - 3 (3x - 9) = - 18

    3x - 9 = - 18/-3

    3x - 9 = 6

    3x = 6 + 9

    3x = 15

    x = 15 / 3 = 5
