The median income of high school dropout was $6000 less than the median income of High school graduate. In order to make up this $6000, the high school dropout will have to work extra number of hours.

Hourly pay of the dropout = $8

Assume he have to work for x hours to make $6000. So we can write the equation as:

8x = 6000

⇒ x = 750 hours

This means, the high school dropout will have to work 750 hours more to make up the $6000 income.
