In a certain city, it was recorded that 17 and one third inches of rain fell over a 24-hour period. How much rain fell per hour on average?

    (17 1/3) / 24 = x/1

    cross multiply

    24x = 52/3

    x = 52/3 * 1/24

    x = 52/72 = 13/18 inches per hr
