    The percent that Clovis gave to the taxi driver as the tip is 16.7%. Let's calculate how much Clovis gave for the airline ticket without the taxi tip. Airline ticket: $69.00. Airline ticket sales tax: $10.35 (If $69 is 100%, sales tax (x) is 15%. $69 : 100% = x : 15%. x = $69 * 15% : 100% = $10.35). Baggage fee: $20.00. The total amount without the taxi is $69.00 + $10.35 + $20.00 = $99.35. The value of the taxi fare and the tip is: $123.35 - $99.35 = $24.00. Taxi fee: $20.00 ($2.50 per 1 mile, x per 8 miles. $2.50 : 1 mile = x : 8 miles. x = $2.50 * 8 miles : 1 mile = $20.00). The value of the tip is: $24.00 - $20.00 = $4.00. Now, find the percent of this value. If $24.00 is 100%, $4.00 is x. $24.00 : 100% = $4.00 : x. x = $4.00 * 100% : $24.00. x = 16.7%.
