    4 days

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Every day, worm climbs 6 feet (8 upwards, 2 downwards so the net effect is 8-2=6)

    Except for the last day, because he would wait to move down once reached the top.

    Let n ne the no. of days taken to get to the top of the well.

    For the (n-1) days, it moves up by 6 feet and on the nth day, it moves up by 8 feet

    6 (n-1) + 8 = 26

    6 (n-1) = 18

    n-1 = 18/6 = 3

    n = 3+1

    n = 4

    7 days. each 24 hrs he achieves 7-2=5ft, so in 6 days he has climbed 30ft on the 7th day he climbs the last 7ft and is out and doesn't therefore slide back 2ft
