    One 16 oz can of veggie soup cost $ 1.78 ... 1.78/16 = 0.11 per oz

    1 pint = 16 oz ... so 2 pints = (2 * 16) = 32 oz

    so 32 oz (or 2 pints) of veggie soup cost $ 3.17 ... 3.17/32 = 0.10 per oz

so the better deal (the cheapest one) is the 2 pints for $ 3.17
