Okay Haley bought 2 fish for $12.

Her cousin spent double the amount, which is $24. Because each fish cost the same amount.

So if her cousin spent 24, then he bought 4 fish.

    4 + 2 (Haley's fish) = 6

They have 6 fish all together.

Haley spent $ 12 ... her cousin spent double ... so her cuz spent $ 24

    haley spent $ 12 for 2 fish ... 12/2 = 6 bucks per fish

    so if the cuz spent $ 24 ... 24/6 = 4 ... cuz got 4 fish

    haley's 2 fish + cuz's 4 fish = 6 fish in total
