    The first t hours he walked.

    5t + 60 (1.5 - t) = 35

    5t + 90 - 60t = 35

    -55t = - 55

    t = 1 hours

    he walked 5 * 1 = 5 miles

    he traveld 60*0.5 = 30 miles by bus.
