Tina brought four more than one-half of the number of t-shirts as Maria. If Tina brought eleven shirts, how many did Maria bring?

    ok. So Maria brought X amount t-shirts

    Then Tina brought 2 less than 1/4 of X

    So tina brought (1/4) X - 2 = 3 shirts

    So (1/4) X = 5

    X = 20

    Maria brought 20 shirts
