The two equivalent expressions are 1 and 4

    Let's substitute 2 for x

    Expression 1

    9 + 5 (2) - 5 + 3 (2) =

    9 + 10 - 5 + 6 = 20

    Expression 4

    4 (1 + 2 (2)) =

    4 (1 + 4) =

    4 (5) = 20

When you substitute 2 for x in expression 1 and 4 you get the same answer of 20.
