The total expenditures are to be divided in 3.

So we first calculate the total expenditures:

hotel expenditure: "$250 per night for 4 nights" means $250*4=$1,000

    round trip cost: $150

    total cost for food: $290

    total expenditure is: $1,000+$150+$290=$1440

    $1440/3=$480

    Answer: $480
