    Grapes = 2 1/2 pounds = 5/2 pounds

    Apples = 1 1/4 times grapes = 5/4 times grapes

    Apples = 5/4 * 5/2 = 25/8 pounds = 3 1/8 pounds

    So if, 2 1/2 = 5/2 and 1 1/4 = 5/4,

    then 5/2 * 5/4 = 5*5 / 2*4 = 25/8 is simplified to 3 1/8 pounds.
