    the top area is 10 square feet

    Step-by-step explanation:

    the prism has 6 faces, these are separated into 3 groups that each group has 2 equal elements

    there will be another face like the base, another face equal to the front, and another face equal to the other side

    so we are going to make an equation for the surface of the prism

    f = front side = 4

    s = side = 10

    b * 2 + f * 2 + s * 2 = 48

    we replace the values and clear b

    b * 2 + f * 2 + s * 2 = 48

    b * 2 + (4) * 2 + (10) * 2 = 48

    2b + 8 + 20 = 48

    2b = 48 - 20 - 8

    2b = 20

    b = 10

    as the base and the top area are the same

    the top area is 10 square feet
