Ads galore makes posters with standard dimensions of 81/2 inches by 11 inches.

Both length and width of the poster may vary 1/20% according to the ads galore's regulations.

What is the smallest acceptable area of one poster, rounded to the nearest thousandth of square inch?

    length and width may vary 1/20 %

    1/20 % convert in decimal form: 0.05% or 0.0005

    Area = 8 1/2 inches * 11 inches = 93.5 sq. inches

    Smallest acceptable area for one poster:

    Width: 8.5 inches * (1 - 0.0005) = 8.49575

    Length: 11 inches * (1 - 0.0005) = 10.9945

    Area = 8.49575 * 10.9945 = 93.4065 or 93.407 sq. inches.
