To take a taxi it costs $3.00 plus an additional $2.00 per mile traveled. You spent exactly $20 on a taxi which includes the $1 tip you left. How many miles did you travel?

    3+2x+1=20

    Now you add the like terms together (3+1)

    2x=16 Now you just divide each side by 2
