Is the equation - 2 (4-x) = 2x+8 an identity? Explain your reasoning.

    0
    -2 (4 - x) = 2x + 8

    - 8 + 2x = 2x + 8

    2x - 2x = 8 + 8

    0 = 16 (incorrect)

    this is not an identity ... an identity has infinite solutions ... this has no solutions.
