    The mass of the bullet = 1.0 * 10⁻² kg

    Explanation:

    Impulse: The impulse of a body is defined as the product of force and time, or it can also be defined as the product of mass and change in velocity of that body. The S. I unit of impulse is newton - second or kg m/s

    impulse = I = M (u-v)

    Making M the subject of the equation above,

    M = I / (u-v) ... Equation 1

    Where I = impulse of the bullet, M = mass of the bullet, V = final velocity of the bullet, u = initial velocity of the bullet.

    Given: I = 5.0 Newton - second, v = 0 (brought to rest), u = 5.0 * 10² m/s

    Substituting these values into equation 1

    M = 5 / (5.0 * 10²)

    M = 1.0 * 10⁻² kg.

    The mass of the bullet = 1.0 * 10⁻² kg
