What happens when Dr. Hewitt places a current - carrying wire between the poles of the magnet for the first time?

    there is some magnetic field in between the space between the poles of a magnet. So, when a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a force which is given by

    F = B x i x l x Sinθ

    where, B is the strength of magnetic field, i is the current in the conductor, l is the length of the conductor and θ is the angle between the length vector and the magnetic filed vector.
