    2.0 m

    Explanation:

    Kinetic Energy: This is the energy of a body due to motion.

    According to the law of conservation of energy,

    Kinetic Energy = potential Energy = mgs

    Where m = mass (kg), g = acceleration due to gravity (m/s²), s = distance or height (m).

    Kinetic energy = 4.0 J, s = 1.0 m, g = 9.8m/s², m=?

    ∴ m = kinetic Energy / (gs)

    m = 4 / (1 * 9.8) = 0.4081 Kg.

    When the initial kinetic energy 8.0 J

    ∴ Distance (s) = 8.0 / (0.4081 * 9.8)

    Distance (s) = 2.00031

    Distance (s) ≈ 2.0 m

    ∴ the block would slide 2.0 m
