As potential energy depends on height

    P. E=mgh

    m and g remains same

just before release it has maximum height, thus option D it has maximum potential energy.

A ball is dropped from the top of a building, the ball have the most potential energy "just before it hits the ground".

    Answer: Option B

    Explanation:

The ball transforms energy stored in gravity force as it falls, into gravitational potential energy then into motion energy "kinetic energy". The ball travels fast by the time it reaches the floor and it hits the floor hard. It pushes the floor downward, and the floor pushes it upward.

From rest as an object falls its potentially gravitational energy get transformed into kinetic energy. Energy conservation as a process allows for velocity measurement just before it hits the surface, which is basically equal to their initial potential energy.
